Celebration warms the hearts of many
Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell inc (MRR), in Beyers Park celebrated its 117th birthday, on July 1, yet there where no fancy luncheons or formal celebrations, instead the firm opted to celebrate its success and longevity by reaching out to others.
Armed with 100 blankets acquired from Rotary International, the directors and staff of the firm visited the iThemba Victim Support Centre in Reiger Park to share their warm bounty with the community.
“Over the years MRR has enjoyed so much success so we thought it only appropriate to celebrate our birthday by reaching to those who have so little, those who only ask for shelter from the harsh winter chill,” said Brian Macgregor, director of the firm
“It is a privilege as well as a humbling experience to be here today, meeting members of thiscommunity and to be able to bring some comfort to them.”
Priding itself in being active within the community, always striving to give back, MRR have also undertaken to assist the centre in establishing a sustainable vegetable garden on the premises.
“A blanket warms the body but members of this community need nourishment as well and it is for this reason that our entire team will be returning the centre, later this month to aid Angie Reiners, centre manager, in fulfilling her dream of having a sustainable and organic community garden,” said Jeff Matthee, director.
“We want to continue being friends to the centre as the work done here, by this team, is a selfless task as well as labour of love – all the things the MRR strive to be part of.”
