MRR rises up to the challenge
Members of Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell inc (MRR) in Beyers Park, once again took part in the second annual, Greenstone Wheelchair Challenge.
The team raced against the clock as well as other corporate teams, to once again roll away as the overall winners of the Corporate Relay Challenge.
This annual event, hosted in conjunction with the Gauteng Provincial Association for Persons with Disabilities (GPAPD), is held in order to raise awareness of the daily challenges that wheelchair bound persons experience.
“It is very difficult to put yourself in a disabled person’s position, until you are strapped to a wheelchair and have had to navigate your way through a busy mall, dodging able bodied people do you realise what challenges these people face with courage,” said Dino Montepara, MRR director.
“We so often take the most mundane chores, like popping into the shop, for granted – I have the world of respect for these brave individuals, as everything they do in life is an achievement.”
