acts of random kindness ...

Staff and family members of Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell inc (MRR) in Beyers Park along with residents of Reiger Park, recently dedicated their Saturday to the iThemba Victim Support Centre, to do their civic duty in honour of former president Nelson Mandela’s 93rd birthday.

Braving the nippy weather and armed with garden tools, the team assisted Angie Reiners (centre manager) in fulfilling her dream of having a sustainable and organic veggie garden at the centre, which in turn will benefit its soup kitchen as well as impoverished households within the community.

“There is a certain kind of magic in what we are doing here,” said Jeff Matthee (director at MRR).
“Once we leave here later today, nobody would really be able to see what we did, but in a couple of weeks or so, the fruits of labour will start to flourish and men, women and children will be able to receive nourishment from what we did today.
“It is amazing to think that such a small contribution from our side will soon have a huge effect on this community.
“And we do this all in honour of Tata Madiba and his selfless dedication to our country.”

According to Angie, MRR’s assistance will not only aid those they serve but will lessen some financial responsibilities which the centre is faced with on a daily basis.
“There isn’t much we can say accept thank you to everyone who helped here today, their contribution is truly a blessing,” she said.

Garden tools were sponsored by Homestead Industrial Supply Company (Hisco), in Primrose.
