JEFF MATHEE

Jeff Matthee matriculated at Benoni High School in 1971, where he had been a prefect, Junior Town Councillor and Deputy Junior Mayor of Benoni. He completed a year's national service with the Air Force before enrolling at the University of the Witwatersrand, graduating in 1976 with a B Proc degree, having simultaneously completed his articles with S Bentel Rubens & Hirschowitz.

During his period of study, Jeff held various part time positions, which included being a production, moulder, laboratory assistant, waiter and door to door salesman. In 1977 Jeff was employed by Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell initially to attend to criminal and civil matters. That year he married Sally Ann Whitbread and they have two children, a daughter, Samantha and a son, Justin. Samantha currently practices as a Psychologist in Benoni, and Justin, having attained a BSC degree in Building Management, is currently employed by GHC Africa as a Project Manager. In 2009 Jeff became a grandfather with the birth of Julia Anne Holle, who has her grandfather wrapped around her little finger.

In 1978 Jeff was admitted as a Partner of the firm and took control of the Litigation and Commercial Law Departments. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Jeff served as a Commissioner of Small Claims Court for a period of 10 years. In 1991, he was recognized by the then Transvaal Law Society as a Litigation Expert and was chosen to serve as a Specialist Litigation Examiner, assisting the Society with Board Examinations for the Admission of Attorneys. In 1995 he was elevated to the status of ‘Senior Examiner’ which he still maintains.

Jeff serves on the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society and chairs hearings in matters where Attorneys are tried for Unprofessional Conduct.

Additionally, Jeff has a committed civic calendar. He has served as the Chairman of FAMSA EAST RAND and for his services was granted Honorary Life Membership of the organisation. He has also served on various School Governing Bodies and the Executive Committee of Benoni Central Methodist Church. He assisted with the establishment of, and named, "KIDS HAVEN", a home for street children in Benoni and chaired their Board for many years. In the 1994 National Elections, he took leave of absence from his professional duties in order to serve the Peace Secretariat. He currently serves as a Trustee for Retina South Africa, a national organization fighting blindness, and also as District Disciplinary Registrar of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and Swaziland.

Recognizing the need to address the increasing incidents of drug abuse in the community, particularly amongst the youth, Jeff acquired and renovated a building, called THE BRIDGE, for the rehabilitation of adolescent drug abusers. More recently he acquired the adjoining premises and renovated same to be used as a halfway house for rehabilitating drug addicts, called THE LODGE. For his services to SANCA (The South African National Council for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction), he has been granted Life Membership of the Organization.

He served as a member of the Rotary Club of Benoni Van Ryn for many years and was its President during the period 1999 to 2000. Rotary International has honoured him with a Service Award for professional excellence in recognition of his professional achievements, demonstrated by high ethical standards.

In recognition of his service to the community, he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2000 and in 2007 he was honoured with a Paul Harris Safire Award.

In 2007 Jeff won the Community Service Award for Boksburg in recognition of his many contributions to the less fortunate communities of Boksburg.

In 2008 Jeff received the Boksburg "Top Male Professional" award, incidentally sharing the accolade with his partner, Antoinette, who was named "Top Female Professional".

On the sporting front, he has experimented with most sports, excelling at none. He currently enjoys riding his motorcycle whenever the time allows him to do so, and endeavours to maintain a degree of fitness by regularly attending gym. He enjoys hiking in wilderness areas with his wife, Sally and anyone who cares to accompany him. Jeff's real passion is spending time with his family and relaxing in the Kruger National Park where he has served as an Honorary Game Ranger.

BRIAN ROBERT MACGREGOR
______________________________________________________________________________

Brian Robert Macgregor matriculated in 1984 at Sunward Park High School where he was head boy and held the position of Junior Town Councillor and Deputy Junior Mayor in Boksburg. He boasts a strong Scottish heritage and is in fact a descendant of the legendary Rob Roy.

He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1988 and his LLB Degree in 1990. Brian completed his articles with Manfred Jacobs and Husted, after finishing his National Service. He was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer on the 16th March 1993 and as a Notary Public on the 27th July of the same year.

After travelling overseas he joined the firm as a Professional Assistant in July 1994. In May the following year he wedded Lisa Riekstins, becoming a director in the Firm in March 1996. Brian attends to litigation in the Civil and Criminal Courts. Brian is involved in commercial litigation, labour law, commercial contracts, and trusts. Brian is also involved in the conveyancing section of the firm and also practices as a Notary.

Brian enjoys playing squash and golf and is the proud father of three sons: Keegan, Liam and, the most recent addition, Rhys.

Brian Macgregor specialises in:

  • Labour law which includes advice on dismissals, retrenchments, arbitrations, employment contracts & CCMA
  • Antenuptual contracts, trusts, property law, interdicts

ANTOINETTE SWANEPOEL
______________________________________________________________________________

Antoinette Swanepoel was born and raised in Boksburg and matriculated at Dr E G Jansen High School where she was a prefect. She served as a Junior Town Councillor of Boksburg during the period 1989/1990. She enrolled at the University of Pretoria in 1991 and graduated with a BLC Degree and completed her LLB in 1995. After leaving University of Pretoria she worked for the Road Accident Fund and after gaining experience in third party matters, joined as a Candidate Attorney in 1996. She was admitted both as an Attorney and as a Conveyancer in 1998 and was appointed a Director in March 2000. Antoinette was admitted as a Notary Public during August 2004. On the 14th of April 2008 Antoinette was appointed as a Fee Assessor for the Law Society of the Northern Provinces.

She married Hermanus in February 1996 and they have two boys, Hendro, born on the 23rd January 2000 and Mighael, born on the 1st October 2001. Besides her interest in property law and third party law, Antoinette is a keen homemaker. In 2008 Antoinette received the Boksburg "Top Female Professional" award.

Antoinette specialises in General Conveyancing Work including:

  • The registration of transfers, bonds, sub-divisions and consolidations
  • The opening of township registers in respect of commercial and residential properties.
  • The opening sectional title registers in respect of commercial and residential properties.

DARIAN NOLAN
______________________________________________________________________________

Darian Nolan matriculated from Potchefstroom Boys High School in 1994 where he had been a boarder in Milton House. Darian enrolled at the University of Pretoria and completed his B. Proc Degree in 1999.

During Darian’s studies he held numerous part-time jobs, primarily in the mining industry, where he cut his teeth on both manual labour and supervisory responsibility.

After Darian completed his studies, he joined Shaft Sinkers (Pty) Limited, a mining contracting firm, where he primarily dealt with mining and contractual disputes.

During May 2002 Darian commenced his Articles with Malherbe, Rigg and Ranwell. On the 14th September 2004 Darian was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Darian continues to enjoy Litigation, Commercial Work and Court Appearances.

Darian's general interest is in the field of commercial law and he enjoys the cut and thrust of open court.

In 2006, Darian was appointed as a Director at MRR.
Darian currently serves as a member of the Boksburg Attorneys Association Committee and fulfills the role of court liason for the Association.

DINO MONTEPARA
______________________________________________________________________________

Dino Montepara matriculated in 1998 from West Ridge High School where he achieved full academic colours as well as prefectship. Dino graduated with his LLB degree and his B com degree with Cum Laude through the University of the Witwatersrand in 2004. He was awarded membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society for outstanding scholastic achievement and excellence.

Dino has his National and Provincial colours in water- skiing. He represented South Africa in 1995 in the European Championships in Czech Republic in which he received a bronze medal. He also attended the World Championships in 1996 in Canada, where the team received 8th position overall.

Dino served his first 9 months of articles at Hammond Pole Attorneys. He then decided to complete his second year at Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell Inc. for a more varied experience as a Litigator.

On the 13 February 2006 Dino was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa and is now practicing as a director at Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell Inc.

In February 2008 Dino married Kim Chisholm and the couple have made their home in Farrarmere, Benoni.

SANDRA ADRIAO
______________________________________________________________________________

Sandra Adriao matriculated in 1994 from Alberton High School where she served as a prefect.

She is a B PROC and LBB graduate from the University of Johannesburg (formerly RAU) and was admitted as an attorney in 2001.

She quickly gained valuable exposure to a wide spectrum of general legal practise and subsequently found her niche in Conveyancing.

In July 2005 she passed the Conveyancing exam and was admitted as a Conveyancer in September of that year.

Sandra is married to Nelson and has a son called Alexio born in 2007.

Sandra is an avid reader and has a passion for spending quality time with her family.
