Commander rules with a guiding hand
Warrant Officer Magda Lourens, of the Crystal Park Police Station recently became the latest recipient of the Malherbe Rigg & Ranwell inc (MRR) Top Cop award, which is currently in its 10th month.
This award was created last year, in order for the firm and the community to pay tribute to police officers, who go above and beyond the call of duty in order to keep their community members safe.
According to information received from the police station’s management, WO Magda Lourens has been working at the police station since 2009 and was performing duties at the MIC office.
“Following a managerial reshuffle late last year, Lourens was tasked to take charge of ‘C’ relief,” said Tryna Wolmerhans, spokesperson for the police station.
“In order to boost members’ morale, Lourens took the time to listen to her members’ concerns, goals and aspirations.
“Through taking the time to continuously communicate with the members under her command, Lourens earned all her staff’s respect, which has resulted in three of her officers already receiving the MRR Top Cop award.”
WO Lourens proved that proper command and control not only works but also creates numerous benefits which can be enjoyed by the community.
During the official hand-over, Jeff Matthee, director at MRR stated that it gives the firm great pleasure to see, that even 10 months after the inception of this award, police officers at the Crystal Park SAPS continue to tally up great successes thus, ensuring that their community is getting the best the boys and girls in blue has to offer.
“We remain proud to be associated with this police station and its members and we would like to thank you all for the sterling service you are providing to this community,” he said.
“Keep up the good work guys, we salute you.”
Lourens received a shopping voucher sponsored by MRR as well as donation sponsored by Homestead Industrial Supply Company (HISCO)
